Silverton is nestled in a stunning valley in southwestern Colorado, among the dramatic peaks of the San Juan mountain range. The town boasts a rugged mining history, contrasted with Victorian charm.


Silverton offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year for all kinds of visitors. Here is a sampling of the local offerings and links (if available) to their websites:

          The Silverton Chamber of Commerce provides an extensive website and a staffed office located on Greene Street as you enter town. The Chamber is available to assist visitors with all their vacation planning needs.
          Purgatory/Durango Mountain Resort is a 20 mile drive to the south of Silverton, and features excellent ski terrain and year round recreation.
          The Blair Street Arts and Crafts Fair (now in its 10th year) is held in mid-July in Silverton and features the artwork and handicrafts of local artists as well as many others. The Fair also includes music, dance and other offerings.
          The Silverton Jubilee Music Festival is held in late July and features an impressive line up of international musicians for a 2 day event.
          Jeep Rentals are available from Silver Summit RV Park & Jeep Rentals and from the Triangle Motel.
          The Old Hundred Mine Tour takes you 1/3 mile down into Galena Mountain to learn how the mining was done.
          And of course, don't forget the historic steam train that runs daily between Silverton and Durango.  The Teller House is within easy walking distance of the train terminus.
