Silverton, Colorado is a wonderful historic mining town which has revitalized itself to cater to the vital tourism industry of the region.

When driving into town from either north or south, you will experience mountain vistas unlike anywhere else in the US. The San Juan Scenic Skyway takes you to the top of the world.

Once here, you can watch the arrival of the Durango and Silverton Scenic Train each day and be transported back in time to the days when steam trains dominated the rails. On summer evenings, you can stroll down Greene Street to watch an authentic western gunfight or hear the Silverton Brass Band. If the shops and restaurants aren't enough to keep you busy, you can take a 4-wheel or horseback tour into the countryside. There are historic mine tours, Victorian festivals, music festivals and more.

Silverton is a popular summer destination for avid hikers, naturalists, wildflower enthusiasts, mountain bikers, jeepers, and ATV/OHV riders. The San Juans are vast and accessible enough to accommodate all types of recreation. In the fall, no matter what type of recreation you prefer, you'll be treated to spectacular fall foliage everywhere you turn.

In the quiet of winter, when ours is one of the few hotels open, you can hear your footsteps crunch down Notorious Blair Street to the coffee shop. You can cross country ski on Molas Pass, participate in a kick-sled race in town or ride a snowmobile to Eureka.
